Statement of Principles
Patriot groups have exploded onto the scene because
our political institutions, including political parties, are broken and we
have lost confidence in them.
Public service has lost its meaning and become
synonymous with job security and attainment of power. Rather than
supporting a protected political class, we support reforming the political
system and governance based on the intent of the Constitution. We support
restoring the ideals of the republic that was initiated at the founding of
our country.
We have locked arms, allied in support of:
Limited government:
- A smaller government, responsible to the citizens
for measurable results
- Maximizing effective representation of the people
by minimizing bureaucracy, especially at the
federal level
Accountability and transparency:
- Personal responsibility, honesty, and
transparency from our government at all levels, from our legislators,
and from our candidates
- Protection of liberty for all, the minority as
well as the majority, under the rule of law
Free market economics and fiscal
accountability:
- The government has no money of its own. It is the
taxpayer’s money. We demand prudence.
- Raising taxes solves nothing. Taxes grow
government and reduce our liberties.
- Prioritize elimination of the national debt and
deficit spending—both are irresponsible, steal the fruits of our labors,
impoverish our children and thereby threaten our security.
Responsible growth of the private sector, not the government, is the
only real foundation for lasting economic growth.
An informed and involved electorate:
"Whenever the people are well-informed, they can
be trusted with their own government... whenever things get so far wrong
as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to rights."
Thomas Jefferson, 1789
